New York City Women in Technology Network ~ by Danielle Cyr, Esq.

New York City Women in Technology (NycWIT), a networking and support list-serve for women in the technology field (www.worldwit.org), had its first event on Tuesday night, May 14th. The scene of the event was at Fez and after I made initial introductions, the dynamic, intelligent women who were there enthusiastically threw themselves into networking with the other women who had come. I met Debora Berberian, principal consultant of Technium Consulting; Cindy Wenig, of Chadbourne & Parke (real estate for tech clients); Tracey Losco, Network Security Analyst for NYU; Debra Albert, SVP of Datamonitor; consultant Dayle Henschel; Suzanne Carlson, a technical architect and Kristin Peterson, principal of Velocity, among others. There were a handful of (smart) men who came as well. Old friends--Ed Bogen, Steve Masur and Marc Seago all seemed to be making business connections and enjoying themselves. Richard Frazer was discussing insurance with Karen Sarpolis. Karen, the founder of a health information technology company, was the person who came the furthest as she was visiting from Chicago and is a member of our sister list-serve, ChicWIT. Judging by the number of business cards exchanged, the smiles and the effusive "goodbyes", I'd say that NycWIT's first event was a resounding success! NycWIT's next event will be in June. Hope to see you there!
